Delores M. Young

Born June 21, 1934 in Kanopolis, Kansas to Kenneth A. and Elsie Laverne (Thomas) Merrill. Educated in the Kanopolis Public Schools and graduated as the Valedictorian in 1952. She attended Fort Hayes State University for one year until her marriage to Staff Sgt. William M. Young on January 31, 1954. She was a homemaker. She traveled with her family to Bill's various assignments until his retirement in Aurora, CO in 1971. Music was one of her greatest loves. She was a family historian for over 20 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Burns Memorial United Methodist Church in Aurora. her health had been a lifetime issue and she passed away on May 14, 2010 as a result of a stroke in December 2009. She is survived by her husband William, five children; Walter, Mark Robert, Susan and David, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
