Loving wife and daughter Denise Flournoy passed unexpectedly at her home in Greenwood Village, CO, on August 9, 2023, one week short of her sixty-first birthday. Along with her sense of humor, common-sense approach to life, love of reading and understanding and empathy for those around her, Denise was known for her home-cooked meals with fresh homemade breads and the beautiful flower and vegetable gardens she planted every year. Above all, she will be remembered for her profound commitment to rescuing dogs, giving each of them a safe and loving home.
The daughter of a first-generation IBMer, Denise lived in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kansas, South Dakota, Alaska, New Jersey and finally Colorado, where she graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 1980.
Denise began her own IBM career in 1982. She held positions in administration, systems architecture and stall level support for corporate level management before retiring in the summer of 2017.
Denise is survived by her husband of 31 years, Donald R. Flournoy; her mother, Judith Jadin, of Aurora, CO; father Timm A. Bax and wife Phoebe of Tucson, AZ; and brother Timm A. Bax II of El Paso, TX. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Duane J. Bax, in 1995.
The family deeply appreciates the kindness, including cards, flowers, thoughts and words of comfort and support, shown to us during our time of bereavement.
Peace,
The Flournoy, Bax and Jadin families
