Dennis E. Askew

November 25, 1944 — October 16, 2023

Littleton, CO

Today, we celebrate the remarkable life of Dennis E. Askew, a beacon of strength, love, and unwavering commitment to family, country, and faith. Born under the clear blue skies of Denver, CO, to Alva and Elma Askew, Dennis's life was nothing short of an extraordinary journey, filled with tales of adventure, laughter, and deep connections. He is survived by Tim (Joanne), Patrick (Vicki), Mark (Debbie), and Diane (Lynn).

His enlistment in the US Army on November 16, 1962, was a testament to his sense of duty and honor. Dennis not only served his country with distinction, but he also honed his skills to become a Sharpshooter, a mark of his dedication and prowess. But beyond the accolades and medals, he was an Army man, proud of his service and the values it instilled in him.

But oh, the tales Dennis could tell! Whether regaling his family with stories from his youth in Denver or those from his days in the Army, his gift for storytelling was unmatched. And who could forget those inside jokes he shared with the kids? They were our secret code, a shared language that drew smiles and knowing glances.

In Littleton, CO, Dennis's heart found its home with Glenda C. Askew. Their union was a love story for the ages, one of deep affection, respect, and mutual growth. As a devoted husband and father, Dennis's love overflowed to five grandkids and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Dennis's commitment to family extended beyond just blood ties. He became a beloved second father to Jake and Andrea, forging bonds that stood the test of time. His joyous pizza outings with Jake were legendary, and as they say, "Sharing a pizza slice with Dennis was like getting a slice of life's best moments served with extra cheese." Here's looking at you, Dad, and that extra-large pepperoni we could never quite finish.

An avid outdoorsman, Dennis felt the pulse of nature, finding peace and solace in the vast landscapes. His love for the outdoors was only rivaled by his commitment to his faith. A steadfast servant of God, Dennis's daily presence at church was a source of inspiration to many. His deep connection to the Almighty was evident in his actions, his words, and the kindness he spread.

Today, as we reflect on Dennis's life, we are reminded of the countless lives he touched, the joy he spread, and the legacy he leaves behind. His journey was one of honor, love, and unwavering faith. While our hearts are heavy with his departure, we find comfort in the memories we shared, the laughter we enjoyed, and the lessons he imparted.

Farewell, Dennis E. Askew. Your spirit will forever shine bright in our hearts. Rest now, good and faithful servant. Until we meet again.
