Dennis L. Hitchcock

Dennis L. Hitchcock, USN Ret., 69, was born in Hay Springs, Nebraska on March 3, 1942. He passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. He is survived by his parents Dorman and Marge; his wife Nancy; his daughter Denise; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Bruce, Sherry, Randy, and Kolinda; and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. He grew up in the Western Nebraska and joined the US Navy after high school graduation. The world became his hometown while serving in: Vietnam; Spain; Diego Garcia and Puerto Rico. Upon retirement, he settled with his family in Federal Heights, Colorado. Dennis loved his country with all his heart. He retired from the US Navy as a Chief Storekeeper after 21 years of service. He continued his government service for the next 24 years as a civilian employee with the US Air Force at Lowry Air Force Base. A man of many ball caps, he was an avid Rockies fan and always enjoyed a good hotdog. He loved traveling, especially cruising with his wife Nancy. Dennis was happiest when spending time with family and friends. His smile, kind heart and sense of humor were his trademark. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado.
