Dennis Charles Westphal passed peacefully on July 27, 2017 at Good Samaritan medical center in Lafayette, Colorado. Dennis is survived by his two daughters, Teresa Prichard, along with her husband James, and Jacquelyn Phillips, along with her husband Zackariah. Dennis also leaves three grandchildren, Kellen, 11 years, Kaden, 8 years, and AnnaBelle, 17 years, as well as another granddaughter due to be born in early November 2017. Dennis also is survived by his two brothers Bill Westphal and Buddy Westphal. Dennis lived a life full of adventure, music, joy, and entrepreneurship. Dennis was an accomplished Eagle Scout as a youth, a season of his life that he was very proud of and carried as a source of joy and fondest memories. Dennis joined the U.S. Navy after spending two years in attendance at CU Boulder. He served on the USS Midway and was able to travel extensively during his time in the Navy until his medical discharge in 1964. In 1964, Dennis survived a near fatal accident while on leave in California. Although sustaining partial paralysis and a traumatic brain injury at the age of just 23, Dennis went on to be married, father the daughters whom he loved dearly, and embark on numerous business ventures. Dennis was always an optimist. He always greeted everyone with a smile - a contagious smile that lit up the room. Dennis was a blessing to his caregivers, with his positivity and mischievous spirit. While a professional vocalist in his youth, even participating in the Naval Choir, Dennis continued to sing and love music throughout his life; particularly jazz and ""crooners"". His memory will carry on in those of us that love him and have had our lives enriched by his presence.
