Desiree French Hamilton loving sister, wife and mother. Survived by her three children Cole, Dylan and Maddison and her husband Andrew Hamilton. My mom was an extraordinary woman of great depth and beauty. She was born in Huntington Beach, California in 1962 but lived most of her formative years in Del Mar where she met my dad at the age of 18. According to her, she worked several jobs, from roadside fruit seller to bar waitress but as I got older I figured most of these things were not exactly true. This is the same woman that told me that when she was in high school she had dreadlocks but had to shave her head when they got too long. And after going through her high school photos some years ago I discovered she had straight hair like my sister or me with no proof of Rastafarian or Sinead O'Connor style haircuts. This was reflective of my mom's character; she liked to weave tapestries of innocent lies to complicate her own personality. In the last three years from when she was diagnosed with cancer to when I saw her last during Christmas of this year, she became more transparent of who she really was. She no longer had to put on a show to impress her three kids; she had now formed her own mythology as a selfless loving mother and wife who would do anything for the people she cared for. A spiritual woman who would secretly put Buddhist quotes in my jacket before I went to school in the morning (we currently have a total of 6 different types of religious deities scattered throughout the house) but most of all, my mom loved to learn, understand, and experience new things. She loved the buzz of nature and knew how to connect with people. She is all these things and more; she will be missed but not forgotten, and will live on in the memory of everyone who loved her. Services will be private. Please share memories with the family at the Guestbook link below.
