Devon Rose Schlaepfer
1995-2022
It is with great sadness and disbelief that we announce the passing of our daughter, Devon Rose Schlaepfer, age 26, who was welcomed into Heaven on February 21, 2022. Her fantastic sense of humor and smile were the first things that friends and family noted, when describing her beautiful character.
Devon Rose is preceded by her grandmothers, Margaret Rose Snead and Judith Faye Howard. She is survived by her parents Kristy Howard and John Schlaepfer; Older brother John Mardock; Uncle Paul Snead; Aunts: Karen York, Roya York, Deborah Schlaepfer, Barbara Smith, Robin Skinner, and Lori Harmon; Cousins: Malek York, Melanie Skinner, Chris Skinner, Cameron Smith, Landry Smith, Margaret Snead, Jakob Snead, Kierstin Snead, and Luke Snead.
Devon roared into the world on July 25, 1995 at Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She was greeted with great relief and much excitement, following a complicated pregnancy. Devon was a very happy baby, although, it would later become apparent that she would suffer from chronic digestive challenges.
The entirety of Devon's life was spent in Jefferson County, Colorado, which suited her love and strong attraction to the outdoors and cool weather.
In 1998, Devon became a student at Bethlehem Lutheran School, in Lakewood, Colorado. She attended two years of preschool, followed by kindergarten and first through eighth grades. In 2008, she received the blessing of communion from Bethlehem and graduated. Devon began her sophomore year at Wheat Ridge High School, but realized later that she thrived in a much smaller setting. She later chose to continue her education at The Hope Academy Charter School, in Broomfield, CO. In May of 2012, she graduated and proudly received her diploma.
After graduation, she worked in retail and healthcare before transitioning into a successful career in sales. She was relied upon with critical tasks, due to her extremely high attention to detail and a strong desire to see a job done to perfection.
She was very intuitive and insightful and possessed a deep tenderness toward the elderly and an extraordinary love for babies and children. She also had a very unusual gift for forming an instant connection with animals, which made her an honorary member of her clients families.
A memorial service will be held for Devon Rose on April 29, 2022 at 5p.m. Followed by a catered reception at 6p.m. All of Devon's family and friends are welcome and will be warmly received.
