Raised in the Janesville area, she began volunteering community service at the age of 5, and was active in the Rock County 4H for over 11 years. She showed early talent in art and enjoyed participating in sports and music. A graduate of Milton High School class of 1999, she spent her freshman year of college at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin before spending a year as an AmeriCorps volunteer, working and traveling throughout the southwest. She attended the University of Colorado - Denver, graduating with a degree in communications in 2006. Making Denver her home, Diana loved outdoor recreation with her many friends, camping, hiking and snowshoeing in the mountains, as well as volunteering for various local causes that she believed in. At the time of her death, Diana had been employed by Education Management Services as an educational consultant. Prior to this she was a professional fundraiser for Telefund. Notably, in 2004, she raised over $40, 000 for the Democratic Party through small dollar amount contributions made from unsolicited phone calls while at Telefund.
