Diana “DeDe” Mulligan age 80, passed away on August 4, 2020 at the Colorado Veterans Home located in Aurora, Colorado. Diana was born on March 2, 1940 in Carriere, Mississippi to the late Carley Bounds and Agnes Bounds (Johnson). Diana was proceeded in death by her husband Navy Veteran Thomas J. Mulligan.
DeDe had a great love for God and spent her entire life trying to serve Him. She was a lifelong learner, curious about everything under the sun and she always had interesting facts to share. She also had a great love for friends and family, especially her brothers. She was known for being a kind caring soul. She was very considerate of other people, very mindful of her behavior towards others and the effect she had on them. She was so very loving and fun! This was reflected in all the encouraging words she shared with both staff and residents during her time here at Fitzsimons. Most recently during the start of the pandemic, she drew a rainbow picture with words of thanks to all the nursing staff working hard to keep her (and others) safe! She was so uplifting to all around her.
DeDe loved to share her enthusiasm for jokes with friends and family with her contagious laugh. Whether the jokes were good for bad, DeDe often said that she and another staff member had the propensity to mess up the punchlines, but somehow that seemed to make them laugh harder. Sara will always remember her laugh, which was a joy to ignite. She enjoyed listening to music and dancing. She was a rare gem that loved all kinds of music anything from Willie Nelson to the Doors. Bingo was a favorite event of hers in the community and at Fitzsimons. She also loved doing crossword puzzles as a group and always had a word search book, book to read with her to work on while she waited for the next program to attend.
Surviving siblings include Ronald Bounds of Picayune, Mississippi and Robert Bounds of Katy, Texas. Diana's memorial service will be held on Monday September 14th at 10:00 AM located at Horan & McConaty, 11150 East Dartmouth Ave Aurora, Colorado. She will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery next to her husband.
