Diane Elizabeth Vaz

Diane Elizabeth Vaz 76, was born in Brooklyn New York to parents Arthur B. Williams and Annette Gourdine. She married Russell Vaz on July 1, 1967 and eventually moved to Denver Colorado in 1973 where they raised two sons Damon and Jason. She divorced in 1996 and never remarried.

Diane was a homemaker for most of those years as she was stricken with Crohn's disease which greatly hampered her ability to work. After a miraculous healing, Diane joined the workforce. She held a variety of clerical positions and retired as a Customer Service Agent at ADT in 2014. Serving as a Children’s Sunday School Teacher at Journey Christian Fellowship from 2003-2005, Diane continued to grow in the Lord and was an active attendee at Calvary Chapel Aurora from 2005-2013.

Diane tremendously loved and is survived by her sons Damon (55) and Jason Vaz (53), Daughter’s In Love Lisa Vaz and Melissa Vaz, Grandchildren Jordan Vaz (26), Lauren Vaz (24), Jadon Vaz (21) and Bryce Vaz (19). Diane is survived by her half siblings Carolyn and Pete Gibbs, on her Mother’s side, and half siblings Karen Calloway, Laura Jean McBean, Rev. Julie Williams and Varo Duffins on her Father’s side.

Diane’s Grandchildren had a very special place in her heart. Granddaughters Jordan and Lauren, loved playing dress up with all of Diane’s Jewelry collection when they were little. Diane loved attending her grandchildren’s activities which included but were not limited to piano recitals, theatrical plays and of course all of their soccer, baseball, softball and football events.

Diane always made time for family, and a year never went by without Diane making her famous double layered yellow "Sock it to me" chocolate cake, to celebrate Damon and Jason’s Birthdays. Diane loved to cook for her family and neighbors, loved celebrating holidays, and sharing family functions and experiences on FaceBook. She also had an interest in collecting elephant, duck and turtle figurines.

Diane passed away peacefully while napping at home in Aurora, Colorado on September 21, 2023, and was certainly loved and will be missed by all of her coast to coast family and online friends.
