Dick Spomer

May 8, 1944 — December 30, 2021

Dick Gene Spomer of Denver, Colorado passed away on December 30, 2021 at the age of 77, surrounded by love and family at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, CO. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother & uncle.

Dick was born on May 8, 1944 in Ovid, CO to Henry and Basil Spomer. He was the youngest of 6. Growing up he enjoyed hunting, fishing, worked the fields, and cultivating life-long relationships. He moved to Denver after graduating high school and held many jobs including working at Safeway, where he met the love of his life, Susan (Arrowsmith). They were married on December 13, 1969 and were together for 52 wonderful years. They had 3 children, Julie, Dixie & Richard. They enjoyed spending time together, road trips, camping & cruising.

Dick was a ‘master’ at the grill, he could cook, grill or smoke anything. He also loved to learn new things and working with his hands so he was always starting a new hobby, or project like, woodworking, leatherwork, beading, home improvements, magnetic bracelets, etc.

Dick was an avid sportsfan loved the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies or anything baseball related including collecting any baseball & football cards he could find. He also enjoyed reading and loved to spend time “shooting the breeze” with anyone he met along the way.  He was a very outgoing, friendly and compassionate.

Dick is survived by his wife, Susan (Denver), daughters Julie (Brighton), Dixie (Denver), daughter in friendship Runoda Larsen (Brighton), granddaughter Eryn Blanckaert (Denver), sister Agnes Kennison (Denver) & brother Henry (Peg) Spomer (Tempe), brother Max (Shellu) Arrowsmith (Cheyenne) and many other extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Basil Spomer, Max & Georgeanne Arrowsmith , son Richard C Spomer, sister Marg (Larry) Jones, Lola (Junior) Henry, Lois (Skeeter) Peyton, brother Robert Kennison, sister Diane (Jim) Gutierrez & Rosanna Arrowsmith.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
