Dieter Emil Fischer

Dieter Emil Fischer of Arvada, Colorado passed away on November 23, 2017 at the age of 78. Dieter Emil Fischer was born on February 27, 1939 in Berlin, Germany. He was the fourth son born to Karl Fanz Emil Fischer and Charlotte Luise Baade. Dieter’s first years of life were filled with the uncertainty of war. One day, when Dieter was 14 years old, he and his family fled to West Berlin from East Berlin, where they were living. They rode the subway over and over taking one suitcase at a time. He and his family were then shipped to West Germany where they lived in a refugee camp for one year. In 1954 Dieter, his parents, and two of his brothers were sponsored by a Christian organization to immigrate to the United States. Dieter was born and raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in various capacities over his lifetime. He loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and loved to attend the temple with his wife and later his family. Dieter held no college degree but had a strong work ethic which enabled him to climb up the corporate ladder. When he retired he worked as the Distribution Manager for Amdahl in Silicon Valley. He had 3 levels of leadership below him and over 300 employees. In 1998 Dieter was diagnosed with Late Onset Multiple Sclerosis. For many years he was able to keep the symptoms of the disease at bay. This allowed him to fulfill a lifelong dream of serving 18 months in a proselyting mission for the LDS church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During his years following retirement he enjoyed gardening, working in his wood workshop, traveling the world, and most of all spending time with family. Dieter's family will welcome friends and family at a Visitation on Friday, December 1, 2017 beginning at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints-Alkire Building, 12995 West 72nd Avenue, Arvada, Colorado.
