Dolores Consuelo Ashen

June 21, 1928 — February 19, 2011

Dolores Consuelo Ashen was born Maria Dolores Consuelo Ortiz y Pino in Trinidad, Colorado on June 21, 1928 to Jose Rosendo Ortiz y Pino and Maria Delphina Valdes. She received her nursing degree at the Seaton School of Nursing, worked as a nurse at Glockner Penrose, Children's and St. Joseph's hospitals and taught nursing at St. Joseph's School of Nursing. She received an undergraduate degree in Education at St. Mary's College and a Master's degree in Spanish Language and Literature at the University of Colorado. She was fluent in several languages She was actively involved in the religious community and enjoyed her studies in the Community Bible Study. Her greatest love and pride was her family: her husband of 54 years, George, her lovely and successful daughters, Paula, Gabrielle, Dominique, Cecile and Michelle and her sons-in-law Jerry Cardwell, Douglas Loup and Thomas Young. The joys of her life were her beloved grandchildren Katie Ashen Elmer, Jordan and Tessa Cardwell, Anna and Julia Loup and Rijan and Zachary Young. Not to be forgotten are her loved and loving Golden Retrievers. Rosary and Funeral Mass, Friday, February 25th, 9:40 A.M. at Church of the Risen Christ, 3060 South Monaco Parkway. Private Committal at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Golden Retriever Rescue Center of the Rockies, 601 16th Street, Golden, Colorado 80401 or to the Denver Dumb Friends League, 2080 South Quebec Street, Denver, Colorado 80231.
