Dolores ""Dee"" Guerin

December 28, 1936 — September 27, 2018

Dolores (Dee) Ruth Guerin was a dedicated mother and a lover of nature, art and all things beautiful. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 28, 1936 to Eleanor and Albert Zimmerman. The family moved from St. Louis in 1946. Since her family life was a troubled one she spent her teen years at Good Shepherd Catholic School. Following graduation from high school she moved in with the Craven family in Boulder, Colorado as she transitioned to adult life. As a ""foster child"" living in the Craven home with 9 children she learned homemaking and child rearing skills. Cory, an artist who traveled the world, was her mentor and lifelong friend. She also had several jobs in her early adult years including Sears, Watts Hardy Dairy and the Plantation Inn in Estes Park.

Dee married Albert J. Guerin on September 22, 1962 and had four daughters, Angela, Celeste, Alicia and Rachelle who were raised in a home they purchased in Lakewood, CO in 1964. Dee loved crafts of all kinds and celebrating holidays with the family. She handmade Christmas gifts for her girls and sewed matching dresses for Christmas and Easter. Although she never worked professionally as a hairdresser, she completed beauty school where she met her dear friend, Lorraine Edrich.

Following Dee's divorced in the 1970's, she remained unmarried. She worked at several different restaurants including Holly West, Red Lobster and Pinehurst Country Club while raising her daughters. She also regularly attended Foursquare Church in Lakewood after she began a personal relationship with Jesus at a Billy Graham crusade.

While in her 60's Dee sold her home and moved to a condo in Denver. In 2010, following an Alzheimer's disease diagnosis, she was involved in a serious car accident. No longer able to live independently, she lived the remainder of her years in assisted living facilities, memory care facilities and with her daughter, Rachelle and family. During these years Dee enjoyed visits from her longtime friends, brother and daughters, particularly regular visits from Celeste who oversaw her care, with Celeste's young granddaughter Grace in tow.

Though Dee suffered hardships in her life she will be remembered and cherished for her overcoming spirit, her silly playful smile and her love for nature and art. She knew Jesus and she is now with him. No more pain, no more sorrows.

She is survived by her daughter and their families: Angela Guerin Kreye, Mary Celeste Ziegler, Alicia Boots and Rachelle Nickell, grandchildren Jason and Jonathan Reeves, Aaron, David and Dayna Boots, Joseph and Andrew Kreye and Sydney Nickell and great-granddaughter, Grace Reeves, as well as her brother, Art Zimmerman. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Royal Family Kids, a Christian organization dedicated to creating life-changing moments for innocent foster children who have been victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment.
