Dolores J. Matteson, age 92, died in her home in Centennial, Colorado, on July 4th, 2022.
She was a graduate of Will Rodgers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Her parents were Velma Blue Jones and Clyde K. Jones, Of Tulsa Oklahoma.
Dolores was also lovingly known as “Dee”.
She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree and earned her RN designation at the University of Colorado School of Nursing.
In Colorado she met and married George Robert Matteson, an officer in the United States Air Force, during the time of the Korean War.
Dee loved her family. She raised four children, then went on to work for 27 years at the Littleton Pediatric Clinic as an RN before retiring.
She loved to play golf, travel, play scrabble games, knit, read and spend time with her family.
She volunteered at the Red Cross and at her Church. She also taught Sunday School and was a leader in the Women’s fellowship activities.
She is survived by her husband, G. Robert Matteson, her three sons: John M. (Patrice) Matteson, James R. (Celeste) Matteson and Thomas M. (Vickey) Matteson and her special joy, her one and only daughter, Susan L. (Del) Miller.
She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Clyde K. Jones, Jr.
Funeral Services will take place at South Suburban Christian Church in Littleton, Colorado on Tuesday, August 9th at 11:00am. Final interment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery. A light lunch will be served at the church before proceeding to Fort Logan.
Services may be attended by family and friends.
