Don Bromley

Don Bromley, March 7, 1944-February 17, 2025. Aurora.

Don grew up on a ranch in Broomfield with his parents Donald and Margaret and siblings Bonnie, Barrie, and Cheryl. He attended school at Thorton High School before going on to earn a BA and Masters from Western State College in Gunnison while playing collegiate-level football. Don met his wife, Patt, at Western State and they taught at Northglenn before moving to the western slope. Over the years, he taught math at Northglenn, Paonia, and Gunnison High School for 33 years, coached baseball as well as high school football for 28 years, and the throwing events in track at Western State for 5 years. 

He was a true role model to all who knew him because of his attention to detail and passion for perfection. Don was meticulous at everything, no matter how menial: mowing the lawn, cleaning the riding lawn mower after each use, handwashing the cars, and weeding the yard. At least 100% effort was exuded at all times.

Don was a compassionate and loving partner to his wife, Patt, of 58 years. He was a patient and heroic father to his three daughters, Kimberlie Householter of Salina, KS, Valerie Bromley of Aurora, CO, and Auderie Rock of Elizabeth, CO. But nothing could compare to his love for his six grandchildren: Haylee Householter, Megan Householter, Hanna Householter, Alexis Brown, Patrick Rock, and Brandon Rock, (including cookies and Diet Coke). The feeling for their grandfather was mutual. The poor man couldn’t use the bathroom without them begging him to hurry or putting their fingers under the door, counting the seconds until “Pa” could entertain them some more.

Don spent his last four years in Memory Care but his uplifting and inspiring personality never changed. He will be greatly missed by all of the caretakers and the countless people whose lives he’s touched over the years for his sense of humor and care for others. 

Funeral services will be held at Horan and McConaty in Aurora on Tuesday, March 18 at 11:00 AM, with reception immediately to follow. HoranCares.com
