Don Charles Morgan

Don Charles Morgan, age 81, died at home on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from heart failure. Born December 7, 1935 in Orange, N.J. to Clarence Morgan and Alice Morgan. He lived in Newark, N.J., North Arlington, N.J., Toms River, N.J., and Littleton, CO. He volunteered to join the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea with the 10th Calvary during the Vietnam war. He then served as an instructor at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point. After being honorably discharged from the Army as a sharpshooter, he returned home to New Jersey and worked as a high school English teacher for three years. He then went on to work for the U.S. Army as a civil servant at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, N.Y., and then at Fort Dix in New Jersey. He worked for the executive branch of the U.S. federal government in Washington, D.C. during the Ronald Regan Administration for several years before returning to New Jersey where he worked as a civil servant for the U.S. Navy at Naval Weapons Station Earle where he was commended for his excellent work to support the Desert Storm effort. Don retired in 1995. Don was a member of the Episcopal Church, VFW and he was the president Ocean County chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). He had a Masters degree in Public Administration. He was a Boy Scout leader and member of the Toms River Yacht Club where he enjoyed having dinner and cocktails on the river with his wife Eileen while watching his son Brenden compete in sailing regattas. Don and Eileen were happily married for 48 years. Don was also a member of the Rutgers University Chapter of the National Honor Society. Don was a generous and kind man. Survivors include his wife, Eileen and son Brenden as well as three grandchildren: Shelby, Jackson and Mason. Don was preceded in death by his father Clarence Morgan and mother Alice Morgan. Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. at Ft. Logan Cemetery, 3698 So. Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, CO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
