Don L. Phelan

Don L. Phelan, 63, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on November 11, 2012. Survived by his Wife Peggy, sons Matthew and Nathan Phelan, Brother, Albert Phelan, Jr. (Veronica), Sister Victoria Martin (Philip) and JoAnn Loveland (Dale). Nieces Victoria & Sam Avila, Rochelle & Ernest Ibarra, Gretta Avila, Nephews David Flores, Great Niece, Jacqueline Rodriguez, Great Nephews, Michael Rodriguez, Justin Avila, Sammy Avila, Tristen Avila, Ernest Ibarra, III, Joseph Ibarra and Zachary Ibarra, Andreas Zacavich, Great-great Nephew, Devian Rivera. Born in Denver to Albert and Margaret Phelan, August 24, 1949 in which he grew to be a great man, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. His goal in life was to live it to its fullest. Married Peggy Rhode on June 28, 1980 and were married 32 years, who stood beside him for better or worse, health and in sickness, she never left his side. He took great pride in his sons, Matthew and Nathan both of who will carry his beliefs and traditions forward. In Don's last moments on this earth, his family was with him. A prayer was said to send him on a peaceful journey to be with God, Dad, Mom and his one nephew George Avila, III. You will be missed, Don, you will always remain in our hearts, our prayers and in our everyday living. Each day you will be remembered for your laughter, your jokes, you're cooking, but mostly for your love and friendship that you shared with everyone you touched. We will remember the great fishing trips with each of us, but especially your brother Butch, nephew Sam. Michael and all the rest of us who had the privilege to listen to your stories, fishing tips and just great fun – you will be so greatly missed. God Bless you and keep you in his glory! Memorial Service will be Friday, November, 16, 2012, 11:00 AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado 80227. Reception will be held at Hope Crossing Church, 3000 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado 80227 following the service. There will not be graveside services. Memorial contributions made in Don's honor are suggested to Collier Hospice, 3210 Lutheran Parkway, Wheat Ridge, Colorado 80033.
