Donald D. Alfermann

Donald D. Alfermann, 72 of Aurora, CO passed away on December 26, 2015. Mr. Alfermann was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church; a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus; and was formerly in the Army National Guard in Missouri. Over the years, Donald served as President of the Athletic Association of St. Francis Borgia High School; Warrensburg Jaycees; Central Missouri State University Booster Club; Warrensburg Country Club; Warrenburg Tiger Booster Club; Parish Council at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Boy Scout fund raising drives. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Franklin County Country Club; United Missouri Bank; The Leukemia Society; Southeast Business Partnership and Ridge View Academy, where he was instrumental in forming the mentoring program for the boys at Ridge View. Mr. Alfermann worked for American Family Insurance for 39 years. He was an agent and District Manager in Missouri for 23 years and Hall of Fame All American from 1972-1993. He became the Colorado Sales Director in 1992 and retired after 10 years as Senior Sales Vice President for the Mountain Region of Colorado, Nevada, Utah and Idaho in 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude Hoelscher Alfermann and Cornelius Alfermann and a sister Marilyn ""Dickie"" Alfermann. Survivors include his wife Diana Rose Alfermann of Aurora, CO; children Gretchen L. Jones (Brian Jones) of Waukee, IA and son Matthew L. Alfermann (Heather Boucher) of Boulder, CO; grandchildren Anna and Jay Alferman and Dylan and Chloe Jones; siblings Virginia Gildehaus (Pete), Melba Peters (Ralph), David Alfermann (Cheryl), Carolyn McCoy (Steve) all of Washington, Missouri and Marilyn Taylor Giddings (David) of Springfield, MO. A Mass and interment, time and date to be determined, will be held at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Krakow, Missouri. A Visitation was held at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel Wednesday December 30, 2015 from 4-6 p.m., with a Scripture Service and Rosary at 6:00 p.m. The family invites friends to a reception following the service at the Valley Country Club, 14601 Country Club Dr, Centennial, CO 80016. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, 6535 Highway YY, Washington, MO on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Immediately following a reception for family and friends will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1121 Columbus Lane, Washington, Mo. Memorial donations may be made to Ridge View Academy, Attn: Michelle Stafancic, 28101 East Quincy Avenue, Watkins, CO 80137. Donations for masses for Donald at Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church can be left at the funeral home.
