Donald Dirksen

Donald J. Dirksen, 81, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born July 27, 1939, in Newton, Kansas to John and Sara Dirksen. On September 2, 1961 he married Nadja Horn. Donald and Nadja soon started a family with their sons, Dominick, and Damon.

Donald served in the United States Navy and held a long career with the federal government- working for the Department of Housing and Urban Development for most of his career. He has two specialist and a Master's Degree in Business. Beyond his retirement from the federal government, he was instrumental in business development for the City of Arvada and stayed active with other entrepreneurial endeavors.

Since 1971, Donald and his family lived in Colorado. In addition to his career with HUD, he and Nadja also owned and ran a horse boarding operation for many years in Lakewood- which was a wonderful place to raise their family. They also have many fond memories of spending winters in the home they owned in Princeville, Kauai. His family was of ultimate importance to him.

Donald is survived by his wife, Nadja; his two sons Dominick (Cyndi), and Damon (Katie); four grandchildren, Sarah, Steven, Alex, and Megan; and his brother John (Deb). He will be fondly remembered by his family for being a kind-hearted family man who would light up a room with his inviting personality.

At this time, a private Funeral Service for family is planned for Donald.
