Donald Jones

Donald G. Jones, 91, passed away on June 11, 2023, at Applewood Our House in Arvada, CO. Don was born on March 27, 1932, in Hammond, IN to Griffith and Marie (Byers) Jones. He graduated from Hammond High School in 1950. After high school Don attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, where he earned Phi Beta Kappa honors while receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. After serving two years in the US Army primarily at Ft. Sam Houston, TX, he returned to Indiana University and graduated with a Master of Business Administration degree. In 1961 he joined the General Electric Company where he held a number of sales and marketing managerial positions at numerous locations around the USA before retiring in 1993.

Don was extremely proud of his three sons, Jeffrey and his wife, Rachel of Doylestown, PA, Griffith and his wife, Wendy (Brown) of Arvada, CO, and Douglas and his wife, Elizabeth (Rees) of Littleton, CO. He is survived by his sister, Sharon Benko, of Crown Point, IN, four lovely grandchildren, Coltan, Karlina, Liam and Darcy Jones, plus many nieces and extended family. Don was preceded in death by his parents Griff and Marie Jones and his brother, Jerry Jones.

Don was a member of Paul Revere Masonic Lodge 162, A.F. & A.M. for over 50 years. During the 1990’s, he was very active with the Lodge’s leadership serving as Worshipful Master in 1999 and 2001. During his retirement, he enjoyed active participation in several Denver area senior citizen social clubs, golf, bowling and physical training. He was honored to be a member of the Colorado State competitive pistol team for seven years.

A family funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. Burial will be later at the Jones family plots at Memory Lane Cemetery, Crown Point, IN.
