Donald E. Guthrie

Donald Eugene Guthrie of Thornton, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2012 at his home. He was born on June 24, 1929 to Carl and Elsie Guthrie in Greeley, Colorado. Don was an only child. He and his parents lived in east Denver. He graduated from East High School. As a child he spent many happy summer days visiting relatives on the farm in Kansas, where he developed his love of fishing, tending to animals, and love of nature. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a truck driver for King Soopers for over 30 years. Don was a member of Northglenn United Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Carolee; sons Brad and Steve and their spouses Vickie and Shell; son in law Randy Vlaanderen; grandchildren Nichole, Matt, Glenn and spouse Sarah, Eric, Lauren, Carla, Kacie, Adam, Jessica, Summer, Benjamin, and Elijah. Also survived by four great grandchildren Zaiden, Jaden, Mariah, Madden, Silas and Nick, and great great grandson, Silas. Preceded in death by his daughter Cherie Vlaanderen; and grandsons Brian Vlaanderen and Mathew Warren.
