Donald H. Hamburg was born June 18, 1929 in Denver, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Rose Hamburg as well as his three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; four children. Donna, William, Kenneth and Therese and by numerous extended family, friends and relatives. Donald graduated from Regis High School in 1947. He then attended the University of Colorado School of Engineering, and graduated with a civil engineering degree in 1951. Upon graduation, he entered the USAF and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in February of 1952. He married Lt. Patricia Small in 1954 in the American Chapel in Wiesbaden, Germany. He returned to Denver in 1956 and was discharged as a USAF Captain. He entered University of Denver Law School in 1956. After graduating, he was a long-time Colorado Assistant Attorney General, specializing in water law. He tried some of Colorado's most famous lawsuits, including three United States Supreme Court cases. He then worked as general counsel for the Colorado River Water Conservation District, located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. H was past president of the Water Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association. Recitation of the Rosary will take place on Thursday, beginning at 5:00 in the evening at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue in Aurora. The Funeral Mass will be Friday beginning at 1:00 in the afternoon at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4377 Utica Street in Denver. A reception will follow at the church.
