Donald J. Kanoza, age 71, of Golden, Colorado, and formerly of Rockford, passed away suddenly on April 29, 2024. Don was a 1971 graduate of Rockford High School. Afterward, he served in the US Army while based in Weisbaden, West Germany, where he held the position of camp photographer for US Stars and Stripes newspaper. Following his service to the country, Don worked at the local GM Diesel equipment plant in Grand Rapids before embarking on a new adventure.
Don's entrepreneurial spirit led him to purchase the Bullwinkle's Bar and Restaurant on Lake Michigan in Allendale. However, his journey didn't stop there. In the late 1980, he moved out west to Golden, Colorado, where he pursued a career as a Master Sound Engineer. Don's passion for music and sound technology led him to work as a sound technician at various musical events and concert facilities in and around the Rocky Mountain region, including the famous Red Rock Music Amphitheater. He ran sound for many national acts, including Bob Seger, Eddie Money, 38 Special, Charlie Daniels, L.A. Guns and many more.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Raymond Kanoza, and his brother Ron. He is survived by his brother Raymond Kanoza, Jr. (Cindy) of Tucson, Arizona, Steven Kanoza (Donna) of Tucson, Arizona , and Garry (Kara) of Lowell, Michigan. Additionally, he leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Don will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
