Donald A. Myers, 87, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away July 29, 2008, while hospitalized in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. He was born May 30, 1921, in Seattle, Washington, to Arthur Raymond and Lydia Albertina Lofgren Myers. Don's professional career was spent at the United States Geological Survey at the Federal Center in Lakewood, CO. There he spent much of him time dedicated to the study of fusilinids (fossilized single celled organisims). While not at work, Don spent his time pursuing many hobbies. He enjoyed spending his summers taking his sons on fishing trips to Jefferson Lake and to camp and fish on Grand Mesa in Western Colorado. Another hobby he greatly enjoyed was woodworking. He built much of the furniture in the home where he and Marge resided. Also, over the years he dedicated much of his time and talents towards building items such as the font and the bulletin board at the Lakewood United Church of Christ where he and Marge were members for over 50 years. Don also kept very busy with gardening in the summer. His family enjoyed the fresh produce that garden yielded for most of the summer. In the fall, he and Marge harvested the grapes from the grapevines in the yard to make both jam and wine. After Don's retirement in 1984, he and Marge traveled extensively throughout the world. They visited China, Thailand, England, and domestically, they especially enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Alaska, and New England. Don was a great husband and father and will be missed by all! He will be missed by his bridge playing buddies, his friends that he enjoyed going to dinner and the opera with, and most importantly, by his loving wife Marge; his four sons, David, John, Alan, and Steven; his daughter-in-law Rosemary, and his grandchildren, Craig, Kelsey, and Sara.
