Donald Price

March 23, 1950 — August 31, 2020

Highlands Ranch, Colorado

The life of Dr. Donald R. Price, starts and ends with family and the endeavor to make those around him smile and feel loved. He was always nurturing people and all living things. This passion was realized in teaching.

Don was born to Dorothy and Stuart Price in Newton, KS on Thursday March 23rd, 1950. Shortly after, the family welcomed his brother, Tom. Sadly, Dorothy and Stuart were in a devastating car accident that took Dorothy from the family far too soon in 1954. The two young boys and Stuart mourned her passionately but were lifted up and loved by Virginia Page. In 1955 they were wed. The family packed up and moved west to Redwood City in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1960.

In 1969, Don enlisted, attended and graduated from the USAF Prep School in Colorado Springs, CO. Upon graduation he continued his studies at the USAF Academy. Don left the Academy returning to regular service and volunteered to serve his country in the Vietnam War. Immediately after volunteering, he met Debra Terry, the woman that he would love, adore and spend the remainder of his life with. After completing his tour of duty in Vietnam, he was stationed at Loring AFB, in northern Maine, followed by a tour in Cheyenne Mountain with NORAD, in Colorado Springs, CO. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1975, he continued his service until 1977 as a reservist, while furthering his education, and completing his education with his Doctorate of Management in 2014.

On June 13th, 1972, Don and Deb were married. Donald Jr. (Donny) joined the family in 1978, followed by Danielle in 1981. During this time, Don worked to advance his education and earned his Master of Science in Business Administration. Ever the educator and researcher, Don helped many local businesses succeed and find new life over the years. Then he discovered, through lecturing, that he truly had a passion for teaching. Although he had been teaching for many years, Don finally figured out what he ‘wanted to be when he grew up’ at the age of 50. He wanted to teach and educate.

Don spent his time loving his family and friends, helping educate and brighten the room by remembering his students’ names, as well as telling his bad jokes. Always with a little wit on hand to make you smile, Don relished the company surrounding him. He had a long list of things to do on this earth, and although he didn’t accomplish them all, like bringing world peace, we will continue to live with him in our hearts.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Deb, his son Donny (wife Jamie), his daughter Danielle (husband Mike), two grandsons, David and Caleb, along with the family’s acquired children (sons and daughters not born to Don and Deb but loved and cherished as their own). Don was the oldest of 7 children and leaves behind his brothers Tom (wife Stephanie), Mike (wife Sandi), Chris, David and sister, Kathy. He is preceded in death by his mothers Dorothy Hilbert (Price) and Virginia Page (Price), his father Stuart Price and his brother Daniel Price.
