Donald Lewis Reichman

Donald Lewis Reichman, age 87, died Wednesday April 10, 2024, due to complications from back surgery.  Don was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on January 7, 1937 and was the youngest of 3 children of Walter Christopher and Loraine Elizabeth (Casper) Reichmann.  He moved to the Chicago Illinois area as a young adult where he graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.  He served in the US Air Force reserves for 8 years and was honorably discharged in 1962 after a brief active stint as a Staff Sergeant.  On December 31, 1962 he met his future wife Sharon at the Tempo Club at a FAC after work.  He began his engineering career with Teletype in Chicago and was transferred to Western Electric in Colorado in the early 1970s when he moved his wife and 3 children to the Broomfield area.  Don retired from AT&T in 1995.

Don is survived by his wife Sharon to whom he was married for almost 60 years and together they had 3 children and 7 grandchildren: Wayne and Laurie (Hamburg), their children Rachel, Kyle, and Tyler; Keith and Patti (Carraher) and their children Christopher and Carolyn; and Mark and Monique (Dussart) and their children Alex and Logan.

Don was predeceased by his sister Doris and her husband Ken Schultz, and his brother Walter and his wife Dorothy.

In his early years Don enjoyed camping, fishing, playing fast pitch softball, tennis, and bowling and after retiring played a lot of golf.  He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren with their sports and activities whenever he could.  Don will be remembered for being a devout Catholic, his great sense of humor, his honesty, and being a gentleman in every sense of the word.

A funeral service will be held in his honor at Pax Christi Catholic Church on Tuesday May 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM and private burial services will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Wednesday May 8, 2024.
