Donald Eugene Richardson passed away June 1, 2020. Don was born June 8, 1933, in Butler, Pennsylvania to Dave Wesley Richardson and Eva Brandon Glass. Don is survived by his wife Mary Elise Richardson, his children Kevin Richardson (Mary), Lisa Bolkey Daniel (Tim) and Erica Kemmerley Stinebower (Nathan). Don is also survived by his granddaughters Amanda Snider, Ciara Pias, Jordyn Kemmerley and Taylor Bolkey, and his great granddaughter Scarlett Pias. Don is preceded in death by his parents and his older brothers Howard Dutton, Elmer Richardson, Bill Richardson and Jack Richardson.
Don was very proud of his service in the Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, and he loved to talk about what it was like to be in the military and his time in the Philippines during the Korean War. Don was a dedicated steel man and he spent 43 years working in the steel industry for Marmon Keystone, starting at the bottom as a young man and ending his career as a branch manager in Delaware. His career enabled the family to move to several different states and experience the world from different points of view.
Don's family was the most important thing to him and he loved them endlessly. He was very proud of his wife Elise and each and every one of his children and grandchildren. Don was affectionately known by his family as ""Pa"". He had a way of making every child feel loved and he was very verbal about telling you that each and every time he saw you.
It was very easy to make Pa chuckle, and when he did, he had a cute little devious grin. Pa always insisted on talking in every family picture that was taken - ""Money"" he would say. That explains why in many of the family pictures Pa has a funny look on his face. He did not care about that. He liked hearing us laugh. Pa had a very corny sense of humor and his jokes and standard sayings will never be forgotten:
*It is a glass table!
*Does a cat have whiskers? (Said in response to, would you like a glass of wine?)
*That is the best pumpkin pie I ever tasted (even though it was the same for 45 years)
*Make like an alligator and drag ass! (Being on time was very important to Pa)
*This chardonnay is cold! (yes odd, but true!)
*Let's make like a baby and head out!
*I see said the blind man as he picked up his hammer and saw!
*If you leave hungry it's your own fault!
*Hey Bub! (making everyone feel special)
*If I was any better, it would be a sin (said in response to how are you Pa?)
Pa was very friendly to everyone, and he had a way of making people feel noticed. This quality of Pa and his corny sense of humor were very endearing and will never be forgotten. Pa left this world surrounded by the favorite thing in his life â his family, and somehow he managed to do that even in a Pandemic! Pa was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Pleease leave condolences for the Richardson family below.
