Donald Wilson Robotham

April 27, 1932 — April 7, 2013

Donald Wilson Robotham, 80, died on April 7, 2013, peacefully, at home after a long and full life. Born and raised in West Hartford, Connecticut, he attended the Loomis School in Windsor, Connecticut and graduated from Yale University in 1954. After enlisting in the Army in 1956, he chose a post in Denver where he met and married Marie Moe, his wife of 52 years. He built his career at the United Bank of Denver, where he eventually served as Senior Executive Vice President. His tenure at United Bank lasted for almost three decades, interrupted only by a brief foray to establish the Fort Collins National Bank, in Fort Collins, Colorado. He whole-heartedly embraced and lived a western way of life. At his earliest opportunity, he bought the first of three ranches that he owned over a span of 30 years, thereby launching his life-long avocation as a rancher and a cowboy. He enthusiastically and generously shared these ranching adventures with family and friends. These times were marked by hard work and laughter, and are dearly remembered by all. He is survived by his three adult children: William W. Robotham (Ann Roath), of Greenwood Village; Sarah C. Robotham (Ira J. Kaplan), of Great Barrington, Massachusetts; and Douglas M. Robotham, of Denver; and his only grandchild, Wilson L. Kaplan. Following cremation, interment will be at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden, Connecticut, at the convenience of his children. Contributions may be made in memory of Donald W. Robotham to the Colorado Cattlemen's Agricultural Land Trust, 8833 Ralston Rd., Arvada, CO, 80002, or any organization of the donor's choosing.
