Donald Dale Walker

Donald Dale Walker, 83, passed away at his home in Black Forest, Colorado on July 10, 2018.

Donald was born on September 7, 1934 in Petersburg, Nebraska. He was raised on the family farm. Don was the 8th of 10 children. As a young child, mornings would be spent doing chores on the farm which included milking the cows. Following his chores, he and his siblings would head off to school which was held in a small one room schoolhouse. In his free time, as a young boy he liked to fish and hunt. At the early age of 18, he left the farm and headed to Colorado. This is where he learned to be a truck driver, which continued to be his career for many years.

When Don wasn't driving the big rigs, he became very knowledgeable of the mountain ranges in the Colorado Rockies. There he would hunt big game and fish in the rivers and lakes. Eventually he became a hunting guide. Hunting, fishing and time spent in the mountains was his passion.

During his life he married and had three sons, Terry, Timothy and Thomas. He'd marry again and through that marriage, brought a beautiful little girl into the world named Martha. Unfortunately, life on the road kept him away from his family, which brought this marriage to an end.

Don developed another passion in collecting guns. He liked to attend gun shows, setting up his table to sell or trade his wares. This is where he would meet the love of his life, Janet.

Janet was a single mom of 3 children, Lee, Mike and Ginni. Janet's youngest Ginni worked at the gun shows collecting the .50 cent admission fee.

It just so happened that Don's table was always the first table when you entered the show. Don and Ginni talked often and developed a friendship (basically Don always teased Ginni). After a few years Ginni, knowing that her mom was lonely, exchanged phone numbers with the handsome man that she had grown to like.

Don and Janet would marry a couple of years later. They loved to travel, especially in their camper where they would pack up and head to the mountains. They had many adventures including Janet's yearly high school reunions.

When they weren't traveling Don loved to spend time with his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren and listening to their adventures.

They were married almost 38 years when Janet passed away.

Don was a good and honest man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and a good friend who respected by so many people.

He will be greatly missed.

Don is survived by his children; Terry (Bonnie) Walker, Timothy (Judy) Walker, Martha (Kendall) Shepherd, Jack ""Lee"" (Jill) Bumgardner, Michael (Susan) Bumgardner, Ginni (Garry) Flowers, grandchildren; Gregory Stevens, Amy (Markie) Ortivez, Nicole (Jack) Dais, Ciara (Jay) Boyce, Justin (Alle) Bumgardner, Troy (Meghan) Bumgardner, Carrie (William) Kongaika, Jason (Amy) Walker, Adam (Tara) Walker, Dillon (Valerie),Carelton (Laura), Christina (Christophe), Andrew Walker and Lianne Walker; great-grandchildren, Jackson Webster, Mila Ortivez, Arrow Boyce, Logan Walker, Casey Walker, Simon Walker, Riley Walker, Avery Walker, Zandra Walker, Hailee Walker, Laila Walker, Wyatt Walker, Mason Walker, Soren Walker, Isolde Walker and Blake Walker; and brothers, Jim Walker and Pat Walker.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Valentine Walker and Katherine (Esau) Walker; his wife Janet (Bocksberger) Walker and a son Thomas Walker.
