Donald John Wirth, 77, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away on January 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Donald was born on January 19, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, where he grew up and graduated from Bushwick High School.
At the age of 20, Donald answered the call to serve his country and was drafted into the United States Armed Forces during the Vietnam War, where he displayed courage and dedication to his fellow servicemen and to his nation.
After his service, Donald became a motorman for the New York Transit Authority, a role he held with pride and diligence for 27 years. Beyond his career, he was a man of many talents—a gifted woodworker, craftsman, and true jack-of-all-trades who brought creativity and skill to every project he undertook.
Donald had a zest for life and loved spending evenings dancing with his beloved wife, Alice. A true patriot, he exemplified honesty, integrity, and unwavering devotion to his family, country, and community.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of many years, Alice; his daughters, Candice Wirth-Kleinbub and Jessica Wirth-Forster; and his sons-in-law, Joseph Kleinbub and Joseph Forster. He was a proud grandfather to Justin Forster, Arianna Forster, Jaxson Forster, Gabriel Kleinbub, and Lukas Kleinbub. He is also survived by his sister, Darlene Pope, and brothers, Kenneth and Charles Lustig. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Wirth, and his in-laws, Lawrence and Alice Primavera.
Donald’s viewing will be held on January 29, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, CO 80003. His service will follow at 6:00 PM, with refreshments and an opportunity to share memories of Donald afterward.
In lieu of flowers, Donald requested that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, causes close to his heart. Gifts and condolences may also be sent to his family at 14270 West 70th Drive, Arvada, CO 80004.
Donald will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His legacy of love, laughter, and craftsmanship will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
