Donita Catherine Jacobs, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on March 14, 2015. Her family and friends surrounded her the weeks prior, after another heart attack on March 1, 2015. She was born in Garden City, Kansas on November 17, 1928 to Pearl Hate and Avery Shomber. Preceded in death by her brother, Delbert Shomber, of Great Bend, Kansas. Survived by her brother, Norman Shomber and sister, Shirley Salmeron, both of Denver. Favorite hobbies included crocheting, quilting, reading and jigsaw puzzles. Her family will all treasure the quilts and Afghans she lovingly made for them. She worked diligently to give them for a special occasion. In addition, she enjoyed telephoning her family and friends often, to let them know they were in her thoughts. Donita had a major heart attack in 1990, thus was pleased to be able to fly to New York to attend her grandson's (Chad and Emily) wedding on August 6, 1994 along with 8 of her family/friends. A few days after the wedding, she toured the Empire State Building, St. John's Cathedral (the Statue of Liberty would easily fit inside this huge cathedral); Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, as well as Niagara Falls in Canada before returning home to Colorado. Her heart was full of love for her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
