Donna Mae Munoz

Donna Mae Munoz - 83, a long-time resident of Gering, NE passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on August 11, 2023, in Thornton, Colorado, where she had moved to live with her daughter 2021.

Donna was born to Emerson Shaw and Florence Eastman Shaw on May 7, 1940, in Rosebud, South Dakota. In 1981, Donna moved to Gering, Nebraska where she resided and enjoyed most of her years. While there, you could find her browsing many garage sales and thrift stores around the valley. Donna worked as the property manager for Grey Eagle Apartments, to which she was always known for being kind and compassionate to those who were in need, before she retired. Being in Gering, she was an avid Runza, Dairy Queen, and Pizza Hut lover. In her time in Thornton, Colorado, she spent many special moments with all her grandchildren which she considered her own. “Grandma Donna” was especially fond of her time with grandchildren, Christian Munoz and Ariana Munoz. The Munoz family ensured Donna felt the love for every holiday, birthday, and special occasion during her time with them.  

Donna is survived her children Mary Munoz of Thornton, Colorado, Joseph Lundstrom of San Antonio, Texas, Robert (Bob) Prue of Lawrence, Kansas, and daughter-in-law, Silvia Rivero of Southgate, Michigan. She is also survived by her sister Joyce Ford of Gering, Nebraska and Anthony Shaw of Colombia, South Carolina. Donna is also survived by 9 grandsons, 10 granddaughters, 2 great-grandsons, and 6 great-granddaughters. She is also survived by family members, Martin (Cinda) Munoz, Sylvia (Henry) Flores, Juanita “Becky” (Patrick) DeCluette, Patrick (Michelle) Munoz, and Lawrence “Nico” (Amanda) Munoz, mostly of Scottsbluff. Donna is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that she loved and considered her own, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Donna is proceeded in death by her beloved sons Edward and Patrick Lundstrom, son-in-law Richard Munoz, grandson Brett Lundstrom, her parents, brothers Emerson Shaw Jr, John Shaw, Robert Shaw, James Shaw, and sisters Velma Salway, Silvia Clifford, and Dolores Wright. 

In Colorado, arrangements are being handled by Horan & McConaty - 9998 Grant St. Thornton, CO 80229  Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 18, 2023 with a rosary being held at 6:00 pm.

In Nebraska, arrangements are being handled by Reverence Funeral Home  - 2002 Char Ave. Scottsbluff, Nebraska.  A Funeral service and mass will be at Christ the King Catholic Church 1345 18th St., Gering, Nebraska  69341 however, the date for the funeral is pending. Final interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering, Nebraska, immediately following mass. We kindly invite all attendees to wear any item or clothes of her favorite color pink, in her honor, if you feel comfortable doing so.
