Donna Ruoff Shepard

October 25, 1926 — February 20, 2015

Donna Ruoff Shepard passed away on February 20, 2015, at the age of 88. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Carroll E. (Ned) Shepard, daughter Zoe Ann Smith of Littleton, son Curtis Shepard of St. Louis, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by sons Todd (1997) and Gordon (1988). Donna's first love was her family; many were at her bedside for her last moments. She was a stay-at-home mom to four children, active in several women's civic organizations and later enjoyed extensive world travel with her husband. Music played an important role in her life and both family members and guests over the years fondly remember singing Christmas carols, gathered around the organ, as she played. As the children moved on, Donna and Ned began spending more time in Ft. Myers, FL where they maintained a residence from 1982 until 2012, when Denver, once again, became their full-time home. Time in Florida was spent with other family who lived there, renewing old friendships with frequent visitors and extended trips aboard their boat where they were often gone for weeks at a time. A celebration of Donna's life will be held at 1:00 on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard in Lakewood, Colorado. The family invites friends to share their memories of times with Donna on the H & M website, www.horancares.com. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted by CovenantCare at Home, whose staff was invaluable to Donna and family during her final weeks (www.covenantcareathome.org/colorado)
