Donna Jeanne Yanz

December 10, 1928 — February 28, 2016

Donna Jeanne Crews Horvath Yanz, 87, entered heaven on February 28th, a beautiful Sunday morning. Donna was born in Denver on December 10, 1928 at St. Luke Hospital to Ruth (née Lowther) and Harry Crews. She grew up in Lafayette, CO, graduating from Lafayette High School. She received her RN at Denver General through Colorado Woman's College and a diploma in obstetrical nursing and care through Fairhaven Maternity Hospital under her grandmother Della Lowther. Donna then earned a degree in interior design from University of Colorado. She established Donna's of Denver over 50 years ago and continued to consult throughout her life. She was named Woman of the Year in 1971 by the American Business Women's Association. One of her delights was her beloved Image Bearers Sunday School class of her wonderful church Southern Gables. Throughout Donna's life, she was involved in numerous organizations: Rainbow Girls, Jobs Daughters, Daughters of the Nile, Amaranth, and Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron and Grand Worthy Matron. Donna is survived by her children Nancy (Steve) Cohen, Jax (Marianne) Horvath, Dirk (Chris Ann) Horvath, Jill Monroe; her grandchildren Toi (Richard) Powell, Ross (Kristy) Heinricy, Nathan (Andrea) Heinricy, Jason (Jenny) Horvath, Anna Carter, Adam Horvath, Jonas (Laura) Horvath, Jonathan Horvath, Joel Horvath, Bethany Horvath; Nick (Carmen) Horvath; Micah Horvath; Ali (Cole) Burns; Lindsay (Justin) Dunst; Brison Monroe; and was blessed by numerous step children, step grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Bob (Sue) Crews, and Dan (Bev) Crews and her beloved nieces. She also leaves her precious cousins Sandy Martin and Sherry Peterson and her lifelong friend of 87 years Gege Weer. She is preceded in death by her husband John Yanz, her parents Ruth and Harry Crews, grandson Jacob Horvath, niece Sherry Crews, nephew Scott Crews. Donna loved adventure, people, and lived life to its fullest. Her theme for living was Joy! Her Joy was in Jesus her Savior. Graveside Service, Thursday, 03/03/16, 10:00 AM, Fort Logan National Cemetery, area A. Memorial Service, Thursday., 03/03/16, 2:00 PM, Southern Gables Church, 4001 S. Wadsworth Blvd. Littleton, CO 80123. In lieu of flowers Donna requested that memorial donations be made to Southern Gables Church.
