It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donnetta (Donne) Marye Hanson Chapman on October 5, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on March 6, 1940, in Brainerd, MN, Donne was the eldest of five children to Donald and Ornetta Hanson. After graduating from Billings Senior High School in 1958, she pursued her studies in business at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she met the love of her life, Allen Chapman. They married on September 2, 1961, and together built a beautiful life in Denver, Colorado, where Donne devoted herself to raising their two cherished children, Karen and Mark.
As a dedicated homemaker, Donne mastered the art of creating a warm and inviting home, she taught herself to cook starting with date night dinners for Allen when he worked late nights at the Hatch’s Drug Store. Her exceptional organizational skills shone through in every gathering she hosted, her Gourmet Dinner Group has been together for 50+ years.
Donne’s creative talents extended beyond her role at home; she founded her own interior design business, Donne Originals, where her unique eye for decorating and knowledge of construction plus her organizational skills led to a successful career that flourished until her retirement at age 70. After retiring, Donne and Allen wintered in Fountain Hills, Arizona, where she enjoyed golf, pickleball, cards, mahjong, stitching and cherished time with friends and family. Her favorite title was Nana.
Donne leaves behind her loving husband, Allen Chapman; her children, Karen (Blane) Stone and Mark (Stephanie) Chapman; and her beloved grandchildren, Taylor (Kelly), Nicholas, and Whitney Stone, and Audrey and Emily Chapman. She is also survived by her siblings, Diana (Jim) Salsbury, Billings, MT, Karen Tobin, Fountain Hills, AZ, and Deg (Amy) Hanson, Billings, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sandra Larison.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hope Methodist Church at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, with a reception to follow at Cherry Hills Country Club, 4:30 to 6:30 PM. A second reception will take place on November 3, 2024, at Desert Canyon Ridge Golf Course from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Denver Hospice. Donne's spirit and love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
