Donovan Blake Hicks

Donovan B. Hicks, 74, of Granby, CO, died peacefully on August 24, 2012 after a short illness. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Sally; son, Warren (Mary), grandchildren Jonathan & the late Kathryn ""Katie""; daughter, Whitney (Jerry) and grandsons Adam & David; brother, Richard; sisters, Linda Borgeman & Donna Stallsworth; and many nieces & nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Elzy & Vivian Hicks. The bulk of his professional career was spent in the employ of Ball Aerospace where he retired as President & Chief Executive Officer in 1996. He continued his work in space & technology after his ""retirement."" He served on the Bishop's Staff of the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado for eight years after his retirement at Ball. He loved his retirement life in Grand County caring for the land & cultivating many warm friendships. He was the epitome of love, honor, & respect. A Vigil will be held at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, 2425 Colorado Boulevard, Boulder at 7:00pm, Wednesday, August 29th. His life will be celebrated with a Funeral Service, 1:00pm, Thursday, August 30th, at St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Cathedral , 1313 Clarkson St., Denver. A Reception will follow the Funeral Service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America of the Neonatology Department of Children's Hospital Colorado.
