Doris Anderson

Doris L. Anderson passed away on February 14, 2019. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

 

Doris was born in Chicago, IL to Esther Swanson and Carl Swanson on January 13, 1926. She is survived by her children Russell Anderson (married to Linda J. Anderson) and Barbara Bastable (married to Bill Bastable); her grandchildren David Anderson (married to Tiya Anderson), Christine Cobb (married to Bryan Cobb), Brent Leyerle, and Krista Grant (married to Micah Grant); her great-grandchildren Tyler Cobb (married to Kristen Cobb), Brayden Cobb, Jordyn Cobb, Noah Grant, Ruthie Grayce Grant and Maggie Anderson. Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband Morgan L. Anderson who she married on April 3, 1948 in Chicago IL; and her brothers, Russell Carl Swanson, who died shortly after birth on 11/11/1924 and Donald Carl Swanson born 4/10/1927, who died at the age of 5.

 

She worked as a bookkeeper for her entire career until she retired from the John Madden Co. in Greenwood Village, CO when she was 88. She had an extreme love of music and played the organ for her church in Oak Lawn, IL for many years before moving to Colorado in 1987. Doris's hobbies included knitting (having made afghans, sweaters, baby clothes, etc.), sewing, gardening, reading, and baking, especially her cardamom coffee cakes, caramel rolls and dinner rolls for Christmas smorgasbord.

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 28th at 10:00AM at the Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church, 10150 E. Belleview Ave, Greenwood Village, CO. Please also join the family for a reception following the service. Doris will be laid to rest with her husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 1:00PM.
