Doris Leone Dore

Doris Leone Dore passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 25, 2023. She was 94 years old.

Doris was born in Denver, Colorado on June 10, 1929 to Edward Ambrose and Corda Leone (Griffiths) Splear. Her parents instilled in her a great love for their Catholic faith and the importance of a good education. She attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School, St. Mary’s Academy for High School, Seton School of Nursing and Loretto Heights College, graduating with a B.S. degree in nursing in June 1951. Doris met the love of her life, John J. Dore, Jr. at a St. Mary’s school dance at the age of 16. They married at Blessed Sacrament Church in Denver on October 13^th, 1951. The couple resided in the Denver area with John working as a school psychologist and Doris working as a school nurse while raising a family of three children, daughters Maureen and Charlene, and son Daniel.

Doris found immense enjoyment from her family. She was always constant with love and support for her children and grandchildren. Other interests included a love for travel, playing Bridge, reading and discussing books with friends, Square Dancing with the "Square Halos", and growing and tending to her beautiful roses. She was a beacon of light in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends, and will be greatly missed.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband John J. Dore, Jr. and their son Daniel J. Dore. 

She is survived by her two daughters Maureen (Frank) Stanek of Littleton, CO and Charlene (Charles) Dickinson of Denver, CO. 

She was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 10am followed by funeral mass at 10:30am, both at St. Jude Catholic Church 9405 W. Florida Avenue, Lakewood.  Entombent will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge.
