Doris Giardini, 83, of Denver, CO, passed away at home on May 1, 2014. Doris was born Oct. 9, 1930 in New York City, NY to Catherina and Joseph Bro. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1948 and then attended Parks School of Business Administration where she received a Secretarial Diploma in July, 1949. Doris married James Giardini on June 11, 1951. The two met in 1949 at Mammoth Gardens skating rink on East Colfax Ave., now known as the Fillmore Auditorium. She had a long career in artistic roller skating beginning in 1949. She was an active competitor, judge, and coach through 2013 representing skating clubs in Denver, Greeley, and Arvada. She loved to compete with her late husband in team dance and supported her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren who followed in her steps in the sport. Doris was a volunteer office worker and teacher at St. James School before working for St. James Parish. She later worked as an information officer for the Air Quality Division at the Colo. Dept. of Health. Survivors include her son, Richard (Linda) Giardini of Greeley, her grandson, Kevin (Sara) Giardini of Parker, her granddaughter, Shala of Windsor, and a great grandson, Ethan. There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 1311 Oneida St., Denver, CO. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to USARS World Team Endowment, 4730 South St., Lincoln, NE 68506.
