Doris Marie Hostetler

March 12, 1923 — December 29, 2019

Doris was born on March 12th, 1923, in Centerville Station, Illinois to parents Rose and Raymond (Lee) Julien. She lived on a farm and picked green beans and helped smoke meat and make sausage. Her sister Hilda was eleven years older and helped guide her through some of life's challenges. Doris Graduated from Dupot High School in Illinois at the age of 16. She attended Business College for one year. Her first job was with an insurance agency in St. Louis for $12 a week. In December 1941, when war was declared after Pearl Harbor she remembered listening to the radio everyday with her co-workers to keep up on the war status. Doris then worked for a valve manufacturing company during the war for $60 per month. Her cousins Lorraine and Evelyn joined Doris in volunteering with the USO in Belleville, Illinois.

Doris was introduced to JC by a friend as he was attending Parks Air College. She was married to John Clinton Hostetler at a Lutheran church in Jarvis, Missouri on December 19, 1947. She loved to shop and loved getting a good deal. She enjoyed cooking and would freeze about anything and so friends always said if they couldn't find JC they would just look in the freezer.

When JC retired they moved to Colorado Springs to build their dream home, and subsequently to Aurora, Colorado where JC passed away in 1995. As the Air Force transferred them, together they lived in 13 different homes in 3 states and 2 countries. Doris was proud of her Christian up bringing and stayed true to her faith. Both her boys were born at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Aurora, Colorado on two separate tours which is quite unusual. Doris spent the last two years at Agape Manor assisted living in Buffalo Wyoming.

She is survived by her two sons Mike and his wife Karen, and Ken and his wife Jan. And also by 9 grandchildren and and 23 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear friend and cousin Evelyn who resides in Hawaii.
