Doris Marie (Harms) Ver Linden, 90, passed away February 17, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Born in Detroit, MI on September 19, 1919, she grew up in Bay City, MI until she moved to La Junta, CO and served in World War II in the Women's Army Corps. Doris met John Ver Linden while stationed in La Junta and they married on December 7, 1945. They moved to Greeley, CO two years later and she lived in Greeley for the next 55 years. Doris was a homemaker and worked for the Pawnee National Grasslands. Her interests included golf, bridge, bowling, sewing, knitting, and needlepoint. She was a member of the Greeley Jaycettes and served on the state board for the Women's Golf Association. She served as a den mother for her sons' Cub Scout den. Her daughter Joan Marie Garrett and her sister Marjorie Knepp preceded Doris in death. She is survived by her children Jill (Charles) Richardson, Jack (Ann) Ver Linden, and Jay (Phyllis Lammers) Verlinden; three grandchildren, Linda (Peter) Scherr, Suzanne Macht, and Richard Macht; four great grandchildren, Rion Scherr, Zoey Scherr, Anthony Macht and Katelynn Songer; and sisters, Nina Moessner and Willa Chadwick.
