Doris Louise Angell Osborn

Doris Louise Angell Osborn passed away peacefully on August 29, 2015 just eleven days past her 94th birthday on August 18. Doris was the beloved mother of 4 children and 2 grandchildren, and loving wife of 41 years to Wilford R. Osborn who preceded her in death November 27, 1983 at the age of 63. Born on the Twelve Mile farm outside Portis KS, Doris was the youngest of 10 children of Charles Wesley and Mary Louise Angell. Her parents were highly respected farmers and gave generously to the building of the rural Twelve Mile School and the Methodist church in Portis. After graduating Portis High School in 1938, Doris entered St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Dodge City, KS and received her Registered Nurse's degree in 1942 under the direction of the Sisters of St. Joseph. For the next 33 years, Doris's nursing career included private duty care and head nurse in medical, surgical, obstetrical, and emergency room departments. In addition to her nursing career, motherhood and homemaking duties, Doris taught children's Sunday school and summer Bible school; was active in the Parent Teacher's Association; was a member of the Federated Music Clubs of America, and the American Nurses Association; and was active in the United Methodist Women's Bible group in Loveland, CO where she lived and worked for 30 years. She loved playing the piano, collecting antique dolls, writing religious poetry, and belting out tunes on the harmonica. She is survived by her son Bill and his wife Mary of Belmont, LA, daughter Jean of Denver, son Jerry and his wife Martha of Danville, CA, and son Kent and his wife Linda of Centennial, CO; her grandson, Tom, of Centennial, and her granddaughter Katherine and her husband, Rob Stamm of Denver, CO. A viewing will be held Friday, September 4 from 10 AM to Noon at Allnutt Hunter Chapel, 2100 North Lincoln, Loveland with a graveside service at Loveland Cemetery immediately following.
