Doris J. Scott

Doris Baustian Scott was born March 24, 1924 in Poweshiek County near Grinnell, Iowa, the second of five girls to Florence Cogley and Delmar Baustian. She was preceded in death December 15, 2000 by her husband John E. Scott, a thirty year Sr. Master Sgt. in the United States Air Force serving during World War II and Germany occupation twice after. Doris received her early education in a Sheridan rural school and graduated from the Grinnell High School in 1941. Doris moved to Denver in 1948 and worked as an executive secretary for the Hallack and Howard Lumber Company, Frigidaire Sales, a division of General Motors, and the McKesson Corporation, retiring in 1988. She compiled and published ""One Century In The United States,"" a Bastjan/Baustian history in 1963. She then took up flying and earned her private pilot license at Clinton Aviation at Stapleton Airport. Other hobbies were ballroom dancing, playing pool and crossword puzzles. Doris is survived by her sister Helen Fontinel of Buford, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents and three sisters, Ruth Steuhm, Mildred Johns and Shirley O'Hara.
