Dorothy Margaret Eisenach

November 9, 1942 — December 29, 2019

Dorothy (Dottie) (Dot-Dot) Margaret Eisenach (Stubbs), 77, passed away on December 29, 2019 in Denver, Colorado. She was born on November 9, 1942 and lived in Denver most of her life.

Dottie is survived by Jerry, her devoted husband of 54 years, sisters Karen Stubbs of Upland CA and Sandy (Alan) Clark, full-time RVers. She is also survived by Cheryl Donnel, Niece and Brandon Micale, Grandnephew, as well as a large extended family and many dear friends. Dottie was predeceased by her parents, Carrol Stubbs and Elnora Stubbs of Denver.

Dottie had a long illness and was so well cared for by Jerry during that time. It was a difficult job, but nobody could have done it better.

She was a devoted wife, a fiercely loyal sister and aunt. She was full of life, kind and generous. She was also fiercely loyal to her husband, Jerry, and she always said marrying Jerry was the best thing that ever happened to her. She and Jerry were a great team and were always together and supportive of each other.

Dottie and Jerry met on a blind date in her senior year at Colorado State University. They were introduced by his fraternity brother and her sorority sister. They got married about a year later and the rest is history.

In order to have time together when she and Jerry were both working, they took turns choosing a day each month to plan a surprise for the other person. This tradition lasted for 30 years.

She was also a very capable businesswoman with a 34-year career in the banking industry. She retired early, in 2000, from Wells Fargo because her boss, John Nelson, retired and she didn't want to train a new Chairman!

Dottie belonged to and was active in the Denver Zoo, Mile High Trail Blazers Camping Group, Kappa Delta Sorority, Executive Women International, WXWMM Investment Club, History Colorado and Denver Museum of Nature and Science. She loved all animals and supported many animal welfare organizations such as Greysave Greyhound Rescue, Wild Animal Sanctuary and the Denver Zoo. She especially loved the dogs in her life – Hans, Sandy, Misty, Shadow, Sunshine, Sam, Charlie, Kona, Alii, Freckles, Cardi, Agnes, Agatha, C, Elvira, Piper, Bronco, Suzanne, The Mauler and Anna.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed camping and traveling. She lived in Germany for 17 months while Jerry was on duty with the U S Army and she and Jerry had visited all 50 states and 7 European countries.

She had an extensive collection of teddy bears! Her favorite teddy bear, Fozzie, was a Valentine's gift from Jerry 30 years ago. Jerry selected Fozzie to be cremated with her and to accompany her to heaven.

She loved going to the movies and enjoyed walking on the treadmill while watching reruns of Golden Girls, Monk, Castle, NCIS, Major Crimes and Murder She Wrote.

She was our family photographer.

She stuck to her beliefs and stood up for what she felt was important to her, even if that wasn’t the popular viewpoint.

She loved chocolate, especially any from Russel Stover and also loved Disneyland and the Disney characters – especially Eeyore. She passed these two loves on to her Niece, Cheryl.

She and Jerry spent many wonderful hours with Cheryl and Brandon when they were younger and in doing so hugely enriched their lives.

She had good ($$$!) taste in jewelry and enjoyed wearing those beautiful pieces to the many activities she participated in.

At Dottie's request, there will be no funeral and a celebration of life will be planned in the Spring. Memorial contributions are welcome at the Denver Zoo: https://www.denverzoo.org/support/donate/

As a tribute to Dottie, the following is taken from a text from John Nelson, Dottie's boss of many years at Wells Fargo:

Dottie was a wonderful person, friend, and partner at work! She made my job so much easier.

The day Bernie Hart (her retiring boss) introduced Dottie to me in late 1990, she put her hand on her hip and said, “well, Mr. Nelson, I certainly hope I can keep the same schedule as I had with Mr. Hart.” I said with trepidation, "well Dottie, what was your schedule?” She said, “I come in at six, go home at four, and don’t take lunch.” I said, “DONE,” and we were off and running!

She was highly respected by everyone in the bank and everyone who came in contact with her through my office and in the community. It was a real pleasure to know her.
