Dorothy McCarthy Foegen of Greenwood Village died Sunday, May 3rd after a very short illness. She was 90 years old.
A viewing will be held for immediate family only (due to pandemic restrictions) at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11th at Horan and McConatyâ Mortuary, 1091 South Colorado Boulevard. Interment will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Dorothy was born August 1, 1929 in Passaic, New Jersey. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 1950 with a BS in Zoology. Dorothy joined the Army in January 1951 and entered her Physical Therapy training. She was assigned to Percy Jones Army Hospital in Battle Creek Michigan where she met her husband to be, George Joseph Foegen. George and Dorothy were married on September 5, 1953. From then on, except for the Vietnam War, they were together until George's death on December 6, 1995. They were married for over 42 years, and are now together again.
Dorothy spent more than 20 years involved in the Doberman Pinscher Club of America (DPCA). George and Dorothy got their first Doberman in 1966 and bred occasionally under the kennel name Trisanna. She raised more Dobermans than children.

Dorothy is survived by 9 children: Denise McGilligan, Lisa Foegen, Celia Harned, John Foegen, Christopher Foegen, Michael Foegen, Caitlin Foegen Smith, Kim Williams and Brian Foegen; 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Dorothy's last years were in the care of Brookdale Meridian in Englewood, Colorado, which took wonderful care of her.
