GUERIN, DOROTHY JANE, 87, passed away on October 4, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Preceded in death by daughter Diane Kotosky, mother Leona Wise and father James Wise. Survived by daughter Linda Guerin, son-in laws Curtis Smith and Rick Kotosky, grandchildren Danielle Smith and Adam Kotosky. Dorothy was born in 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from Bowling State Green University, she taught high school in Michigan for two years. She spent two summers working in Yellowstone Park. Dorothy fell in love with the mountains and moved to Denver, where she joined the Colorado Mountain Club and met her future husband. After getting married, she settled in Bear Valley and had two daughters. She met a group of friends in a Great Books study group and remained friends with them for many years. Dorothy completed graduate degrees at CU, taught there, and later became a technical writer with the Soil Conservation Service in Fort Collins. After her grandchildren were born, she moved back to Denver area to spend time with family and friends. Dorothy had a passion for the written word. She ghost-wrote a book about anorexia, and published articles about women's health. A Memorial Service will be held in Dorothy's honor on Thursday, November 10, 2016, at 2PM, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, CO 80227.
