POWELL, DOROTHY JEAN MARCH 21, 1916 - DECEMBER 18, 2012 96, died peacefully on Tuesday evening, December 18, 2012. She is preceded in death by her husband C.J., mother Keke, brother Durwood and sister Llewellyn. She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Gail (Steve) Maloney and Vance (Barbara) Powell of Boise, ID; Scott (Gloria) Powell of Bend, OR; Pamela (James) Crowe and Penelope (Chip) Halpin of Denver, CO; niece, Linda and nephew, Keith; nine grandchildren: Sterling, Angie, James, Brooke, Ashley, Natalee, Danny, Chris and Sean; thirteen great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her dearly. Dorothy was born in Tishomingo, OK and was married to C.J. Powell for 54 years. Dorothy worked in the Boise School District for 35 years. She will always be remembered for her avid bridge playing, never ending lust for life and deep love for family and friends. Honest and caring, Dorothy raised all of her children to be loving and compassionate. Her strength and encouragement can be seen in the independent nature of each generation that Dorothy left behind. Dorothy was a member of the Chickasaw Nation and was the niece of TeAta, an Indian actress who performed for President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the King and Queen of England. Dorothy appreciated each person she met and was always accepting and never judging. She will be forever loved and always missed.
