Dorothy R. Rupp

July 17, 1931 — June 12, 2014

Dorothy was born in Hays, Kansas on July 17, 1931. She was raised in Ellis with her six siblings, Clarence, Lou, Bebe, Fred, Edna and Mary Ann. She graduated from Girls Catholic High School in 1948. She celebrated her 18th birthday in July and married Lawrence ""Curly"" Rupp in November of that same year. Dorothy and Curly moved to Arvada in 1955 with their two daughters, Debra and Carol. Dorothy lived next to her sister, Edna, for several years. It was a strong bond between the sisters with both of them having children the same ages. Dorothy and Curly moved several times but ended up building a house in Denver where they raised the girls. Dorothy worked at Sunstrand for many years in the purchasing department. She later transferred to Sunstrand Fluid Handling and retired from there many years later. Dorothy was widowed in 1991. Dorothy spent her retirement years working at the St. Anthony Gift Shop, traveling, and at times, taking care of her grandson, the joy of her life. Scott, her grandson, said that ""Grandma worked him hard but gave great coffee breaks."" They also saw a lot of movies and visited Edna. Dorothy spent her last couple of years living at the Well House which was a very wonderful place. She was surrounded by gardens and visited often by people who loved her. She was able to pass away peacefully. Preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence (Curly). Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Debra Rupp and Carol (Don) Larrick; and grandson, Scott Rupp. Memorial Mass will be Sunday, June 29, 2014, 1 PM, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado.
