Doug L. Frederic

April 20, 1962 — May 21, 2018

Douglas Lee Frederic April 20, 1962 - May 21, 2018 Doug grew up and spent most of his life in Denver, a true Colorado native. He loved his proud family and was devoted to his father, Bob, and mother, Norma; both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his ten-year-old treasure and daughter, Ava Hope Frederic; and his two older sisters, Gail Frederic and Linda Frederic; and his two brothers, Rand Frederic and Matthew & Lori Frederic; and their families. Doug, “Dugan” as his father and buddies called him, had a classic childhood; full of sports; buzz cuts; rough housing; and great friends and family. He attended Ralph S. Pitts Elementary School; Cole Jr. High; Kent Denver Middle School; and Thomas Jefferson High. He was a Cub Scout & Webelo and played on several little league teams. He attended Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, completing catechism. Doug worked at Round the Corner Restaurant over his last year of High School which afforded an unforgettable visit with friends, Dennis & Brad & Reed, to sister Linda’s home on Oahu, Hawaii. He had very memorable road trips home from California, after Hawaii, and the following year to Santa Barbara with Kevin & Brad to see Reed. He loved many road trips to Cass Lake, Minnesota to open-up and close his friend Brad’s classic cabin. Too much fun was had by Doug and his best buddies fishing; boating; and hiking around Star Island on so many trips! Doug was the ultimate teammate and athlete! He was one strong, tough guy in the trenches and so dedicated! He swam and played football, baseball, and lacrosse. He was a State Champion in lacrosse his Senior Year at TJ. Golf was also a favorite passion. He truly enjoyed Colorado, skiing and hiking with friends. He also liked coaching Little League Football and his players. Doug was great at it along with his best friend Dennis Frasco, who he just joined in Heaven last week. Doug was the ultimate sports fan! He loved the Denver Broncos and spent every Autumn, living and dying with The Orange & Blue. He loved to watch all major college and professional sports and had a hefty stack of tickets to so many games. Recently, he planned and relished trips to Florida and Arizona to play golf with buddies. Doug attended Fort Lewis College and Arizona State University. School was not easy for him, but he always wanted to learn. He enjoyed so many jobs over the course of his life; especially life guarding; bartending; catering; working for his friend Eric at Parker Hardware; Closing Manager at the Grand Lake Lodge; and Co-Owner and Co-Manager of the Lil’ Ricci’s Restaurant with friends Leigh Ann and Mike Frasco. Doug valued his friendships, perhaps the most of anything in his life, but not beyond Ava Hope Frederic. He had almost as many friendships with gals as he did with guys and worth mentioning ""é Mary, Dena, Lori, Susie, Mindi, Jeanne, Amy, Karen, Julie, Theresa, Kristi, Lori, Beth, Judy, Carey, Christina, Cheryl, Crystal, and Sarah. So many other girls. Doug’s friendships from grade school and Kent-Denver Middle School crossed over to public high at TJ ""é Buck, Phil, Scott, Mad Dog, Paul & Curtis, Fred, Damon, Dave, Mike, and Jeff to name a few. His class of 1980 at TJ, and the classes before and after, were special to him ""é Tim, Steve, Geoff, Mark, and so many others. He enjoyed his brothers’ friends a lot. Doug had friendships from college connections and from work, dozens from his four summers in Grand Lake. He had several golf groups that he counted as friends. His staff and clients at Lil’ Ricci’s were also very special to him. Doug also had a very unusual, forty-year bond with “The Fource.” He was one of eight fellas that were in more wedding photos as a group than could be counted""é Dennis, Kevin, Brad, Chris, Eric, Brian, and Reed. Doug was at the core of their soul! Douglas Lee Frederic liked to laugh! He loved to tease and had the most infectious smile, whether with a butler’s or handle bar mustache; a goatee; or a full beard; and with a variety of hair length or no hair at all. He had many nicknames, well earned, and not to be ever forgotten. Dugan was incredibly fun; loyal; dependable; always available; and the best friend to have! Doug will be missed by family and friends for their lifetimes!
